Acid tolerance

Description

Wheat production can be limited by acidic soils in some areas, which may be of increasing importance due to excessive nitrogen fertilization over time. Limitations may be overcome if growers choose to plant acid tolerant cultivars. Stress from acidic soils tends to turn the lower leaves of the wheat plant yellow, much like nitrogen deficiency.
