Rhizoctonia Root Rot

Description

Seedlings infected with Rhizoctonia root rot are often killed before emergence. Plants that are not killed by the disease may be stunted to different degrees, resulting in an uneven crop canopy. Individual roots infected by Rhizoctonia have small, reddish-brown lesions. The diseased roots break off easily when plants are removed from the soil, leaving their tapered, reddish-brown ends exposed.
