Scouting time
Corn earworm damage to soybeans occurs from August through September. Larvae feed on pods consuming the developing seeds. Fields should be scouted for small larvae beginning at bloom.
Sampling method
Observe a foot row of plant canopy for caterpillar presence.
Thresholds
Control measures should be implemented when an average of one small caterpillar per foot of row is detected.
