Chemical selector

Crop type: Corn
Application type: Preplant or Preemergence

Pounds of active ingredient per acre
Rimsulfuron + Thifensulfuron 0.0104 to 0.0315 + 0.0052 to 0.0158
Product quantity per acre
0.33 to 1.0 oz Basis Herbicide, or 0.83 to 2.5 oz Basis Blend Herbicide
Comments and limitations

Apply Basis Herbicide in the fall (0.033 to 0.5 oz) with 2,4-D ester before the ground freezes to control winter annual weeds and provide some residual weed control of later emerging winter annuals or early emerging spring annual weeds. Early spring applications up to 1.0 oz of Basis Herbicide can be applied on heavy textured soils. Do not use fields intended to be planted to popcorn, sweet corn, or field corn for seed production. Field corn can be planted in the spring following a fall application of Basis Herbicide. Basis Herbicide can be applied up to 7 days prior to planting corn for burndown of emerged weeds. To control emerged weeds, apply Basis Herbicide with a COC or NIS and an ammonium nitrogen fertilizer. Tank mixing with herbicides registered for corn having a different mode of action may help control ALS-resistant weed species. Follow label directions.

The Pesticide Selector includes suggestions for chemical control of pests in Kansas crops, which are provided by K-State Research and Extension, and may not be relevant for states other than Kansas. We will continue to expand this tool for help in selecting other types of agricultural chemicals, and for other states. Contact the myFields Team if you are interested in contributing content!
